I still have so many things I want to do with my life. One of them is to spend another day fishing. You don't realize how many simple days you'll miss, when you're life is stuck in neutral.

How do you prepare for the day, when there's nothi How do you prepare for the day, when there's nothing to be prepared for? I have a staff job, but remote work is TBD. I love being an archaeologist, field or otherwise. I'm not built to read books or listen to them, unless I'm numbed by the constant movement of machinery through the PA. I want to get out and do anything. But I've been left so weak by my stay in the hospital that I can barely make it out of bed, let alone an outside door. How I envy the days of working out, running and cycling that went towards getting ready for a field season. I will, however, rise again and at least walk around a whole block without the benefit of a walker. Or I'm going to die trying. Which is everyone's life isn't it. You work a little, you play a little, makes friends, meet loved ones and make a life. I HATE that has stopped for me. Or that this break is being dragged out for so long.
It's hard to know what to make of your life, after It's hard to know what to make of your life, after so much #cancerjourney I just want my tumor to shrink, be yanked out, thrown in the trash and see where life takes me.
Once upon a time, when I had a tummy ache, it was Once upon a time, when I had a tummy ache, it was a tummy ache. When I had to poop, it came out of the same place that it does for almost everyone else, and I could go or wait. Now tummy aches might still be tummy aches, but it might be my body deciding it's time to poop out a cheeseburger, fries, no sugar added apple pie slice and too much chocolate that I had the day before. My life is very different now.

Maybe I won't be the field archaeologist I once was, but what else should I do? Roll over and die? Pretend to be interested in activities that bore me? No. I'm going to keep pushing myself hard right up until the end. ALTHOUGH, I will take more time to appreciate family, friends and life 😀

I also saw my first #cybertruck I've also come to accept that I need a step stool to get into my truck, unless I get my full range of motion back in my right leg.
When I was a young person, trying to type out a pa When I was a young person, trying to type out a page of anything a day on my typewriters, I loved reading this person's writing. It's also why I owned so many cars by the time I finished my undergrad.  His writing is why I love traveling so much. Then I discovered archaeology and found a different way of visiting every place that didn't require side of the road repairs. I wonder what YouTube van lifers would make of my early travel days, where I would throw my bed roll in the back of my Tacoma and fall asleep watching for shooting stars and listening to Coyotes in the distance. Out of the chaos that was getting me into hospice, in case my death was imminent, I forgot to have my Peter Egan books saved. Which is a glimpse into the way I spend the #gofundme money I've received. I spend money on food to keep my body alive and on books, music etc. to keep my mind and soul alive until they can both get around for an entire day without pain or worry about an injury or sickness that would not have bothered me, when I was a full, healthy person.
I can't believe I've lived long enough to regard m I can't believe I've lived long enough to regard my faithful Thinkpads as fondly as my vintage typewriters. The main difference is that I'm not keeping anyone up when I'm typing away on a Lenovo at midnight. Also, it weighs about the same as my lightest typewriter, which makes it less than fun to use on my lap. Lol PS I thought it was crazy, when my nieces and nephews wanted me to write an essay about my adventures as a field archaeologist. But here I am writing about my life as I'm living it. I hope it ends with the quest I lay out at the beginning, or it becomes a perpetually updated document that isn't finished for a lot of years.
The rainy start to a beautiful day. Now it's 6:20p The rainy start to a beautiful day. Now it's 6:20pm. I rode all the rides I could physically manage. Saw so many new things since I was last here. Spent so many good moments with family. Some people don't like Disney anything. I associate the parks with so many good moments. This Disneyland visit will probably be my last, and I don't mind saying that. PS More pictures to follow.

Hey everyone, this is Richie's sister. Am posting here bc am hoping its the easiest/fastest way to reach all of Richie's friends about his wake. Sorry, I should have started planning this earlier. But, I really needed a rest, time with family, etc. But, am leaving the states soon (the 26th) and was thinking Saturday, Sept. 14th might work best for me, maybe at The Z Bar on S Virginia St?
